LMTM Foundation

School projects · Philippines & Cambodia

Better schools, built one need at a time.

The LMTM Foundation funds the practical things that keep children in class: clean water, sound roofs, books, desks and safe places to learn. We work with principals and teachers in Luzon and Siem Reap, and we see every project through ourselves.

What we believe

Small, well-chosen projects change a school year.

A child who has water at school, a dry classroom and a book of her own is a child who comes back tomorrow.

Large programmes have their place. Ours is different. We start with a conversation with the principal, ask what is stopping children from learning this term, and fund that exact thing. Often it is unglamorous: a water tank, a repaired roof, a set of desks. That is where the difference is made.

Because we are a small foundation, we can move quickly, buy locally and stay in touch with every school long after the work is done.

Current appeal · Malabag School District

Water tanks before the El Niño dry season.

Forecasters expect El Niño conditions to bring a prolonged dry spell from November 2026 through March 2027. For schools in the Malabag School District, that means weeks without reliable water for drinking, handwashing and toilets, and children who stay home as a result.

We are raising $4,000 to install water storage tanks so that 3,000 schoolchildren keep clean water on site through the drought. Every dollar goes to tanks, fittings and installation, and we will publish photographs and receipts once the tanks are in.

Where we work

Two regions, one way of working.

Over the past three years we have supported schools across Luzon and in Siem Reap province. The needs differ. The method stays the same.

Philippines

Luzon

Cavite · Batangas · Southern Luzon highlands

From our home in Tagaytay we work with public elementary and high schools that are often overlooked: upland barangay schools, multi-grade classrooms and campuses still recovering from typhoon damage.

  • Water storage and handwashing stations
  • Classroom repairs and furniture
  • Books, learning materials and school supplies
Cambodia

Siem Reap

Rural communes beyond the temple town

A short drive from Angkor, many village schools lack the basics that tourists never see. We partner with local teachers and community leaders who know exactly where support will be used well.

  • Learning materials in Khmer and English
  • Uniforms and supplies for families who cannot afford them
  • Small infrastructure improvements on school grounds

How a project runs

From first visit to final receipt.

  1. 01 · Listen

    Visit the school

We meet the principal and teachers on site and ask what is keeping children out of class.

  2. 02 · Scope

    Price it locally

We get quotes from local suppliers and tradespeople, so the money stays in the community.

  3. 03 · Fund

    Raise with a clear goal

Each appeal has one target, one budget and one deadline.

  4. 04 · Build

    Deliver together

We are there for delivery and installation, often with tools in hand.

  5. 05 · Report

    Show the result

Donors receive photographs, receipts and a word from the school.

The founders

A family foundation, run from Tagaytay.

Portrait of Liezel Manahan

Liezel Manahan

Co-founder

Liezel leads the foundation's relationships with schools and communities. Her knowledge of Filipino school life, and her ability to earn the trust of principals, parents and barangay officials, shape which projects we take on and how they are carried out.

Portrait of Thomas Mehlhorn

Thomas Mehlhorn

Co-founder

Thomas is a German-Canadian commercial strategist who has spent more than two decades working across Europe, North America and Asia. He brings planning, budgeting and partnership discipline to every project.

He is also a trained hand at tiling, joinery and plumbing, which is useful when a water tank needs connecting and the plumber is running late.

Get involved

Three ways to help.

Give to an appeal

Contribute to our current project. Small gifts add up quickly when a water tank costs less than a smartphone.

See the appeal

Adopt a school

Companies and families can fund a full project at one school and receive a dedicated report, with a visit if you would like to see the work yourself.

Lend your skills

Teachers, tradespeople and professionals are welcome to join a project in Luzon or Siem Reap. Tell us what you do and when you can come.
